Conclusion of the workshop between FIFA and FAF on the use of the “VAR” technology in Algeria – Algerian Dialogue

Yesterday evening, Wednesday, the workshop was concluded, which was organized by a team from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), in cooperation with the Algerian Federation (FAF), on the use of video assistant referee technology (VAR).VAR), which has been hosted by the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa since Tuesday, according to what the Federal Authority reported this Thursday on its official website.

The FAF statement explained: “This workshop represents a prominent step within the project to implement Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in Algeria, stressing that it constituted a valuable opportunity for participants to understand the requirements and challenges associated with adopting this innovation.”

The same source added: “In keeping with the technological transformation that modern football is experiencing, the Algerian Football Federation renewed its commitment to applying this technology in national competitions, thus taking a concrete and pioneering step in enhancing the efficiency of local football, which is clearly evident through the purchase of trucks.” “Equipped with mouse technology and associated communications systems.”

The closing session of this workshop included an exchange of questions and answers with experts from the International Federation (FIFA), and also included discussions of several important aspects related to the topic, during which the participants were able to obtain clarifications for various questions.

At the end of the workshop, it was agreed to organize a future meeting as a confirmation step to prepare for the next season using the VAR technology, with a commitment to continue efforts to ensure the successful application of this technology and work to integrate it effectively into the Algerian football arena.

As a reminder, on March 25, FAF announced a national and international tender to acquire four equipped mouse devices, with the aim of using this technology in the first professional league championship starting from the 2024-2025 season.

The Federal Office, which met on Wednesday, February 21, at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa, approved the strategic framework of the “Forward” program 2023-2026, which includes, in particular, the acquisition of Alfar stations.

Video Assistant Arbitration (VAR) technology has been used starting from the Algerian Cup quarter-final matches for the 2023-2024 season, knowing that the final will bring together MC Algiers and CS Belouizdad.
