“This operation was completed successfully on March 9, 2024, and consisted of high-level tests to ensure the port’s readiness to receive ships efficiently and safely after the expansion of the Skikda oil port,” according to the same source.

Sonatrach also confirmed that this achievement reflects its keenness “to increase loading and unloading capabilities at the level of Skikda Port.” Thanks to this project, the Skikda industrial zone will have a seaport structure that will enhance its position as one of the most important ports in Algeria.”

It is noteworthy that the “Ugarta” ship is a liquefied natural gas tanker carrying the Algerian flag, owned by “Hybrok Maritime Transport” (Sonatrach branch), and was built in 2017, with a total length of 291 meters and a width of 46 meters, according to the statement.
