The Governorate of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency signs a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Energy Agency – Algerian Dialogue

This memorandum was signed on the occasion of the first Algerian-South Korean Forum on energy efficiency, by the Governor of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Noureddine Yassa, and the Vice President of the Korean Energy Agency, Park Byung-chun, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Algeria, Yu Ki-jun and the Director General of the Korea International Cooperation Agency, Jang Bong-hae, and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, such as Hailia Farouk, who holds the position of Deputy Director of East Asian Affairs at the Ministry, along with executives from various sectors and institutions and experts for both countries. In a speech he delivered on the occasion, Mr. Yasa confirmed that the signing of the This memorandum between the Governorate of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and the Korea Energy Agency represents “an important tool for institutional rapprochement with the aim of establishing a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.”

In this context, Mr. Yasa highlighted that this agreement will contribute to strengthening technical cooperation between the governorate and the Korean agency and exchanging experiences and knowledge in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies, green hydrogen, and clean transportation.

He also added that cooperation with the Korean Agency through this memorandum will focus in particular on exchanging information regarding energy efficiency policies and regulations, in terms of quality infrastructure for monitoring home electrical appliances, the contribution of new technologies and innovative solutions for energy efficiency, and the preparation of joint studies in related fields.

For his part, the Vice President of the Korean Energy Agency explained that this memorandum will enable the sharing of various experiences related to energy efficiency that the Korean Agency has acquired in this field.

In turn, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad considered that this agreement expresses the commitment of the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation and diversify it to include all fields of activity and the effectiveness in embodying partnership projects between the two sides, adding that this idea crystallized within a period not exceeding two months, which expresses, According to him, “about the trust and strong will of both parties to move forward in strengthening and diversifying their partnership projects.”

For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Algeria, Yu Ki Joon, confirmed that the memorandum of understanding paves the way for a wide range of cooperative activities, especially the exchange of experts, visits by delegations, and holding seminars, meetings and workshops, as well as encouraging various forms of cooperation between organizations, private companies and institutions.

In this context, the Korean ambassador highlighted that the partnership between the two countries has enormous potential and provides many opportunities to be explored by integrating the technical expertise and innovative approaches of the Korean Energy Agency with local knowledge and strategic initiatives provided by the province of renewable energies and energy efficiency.

The same speaker also pointed out that “joint cooperation efforts will not only reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but will also greatly help promote sustainable development and economic growth in both countries.”
