Head of the National Observatory for Vigilance and Provision of Pharmaceutical Materials: Commencing the production of cancer drugs in Algeria before the end of the current year – Algerian Dialogue

The head of the National Observatory for Vigilance and Provision of Pharmaceutical Materials, Dr. Reda Belkacemi, revealed today, Sunday, that the production of cancer drugs will begin in Algeria before the end of this year.
Belkacemi said on the first radio channel, “There are 6 projects to produce cancer treatment drugs that will finally enter service by the end of this year, with large production capabilities.”
He also added, “The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, during his field trips, always highlighted the necessity of delivering these projects before the end of this current year, which will allow the needs of the national market to be met.”
He also pointed out that “some of these projects have export potential, especially to the African market.”
In a related context, Belkacemi stated, “By 2024, the disruptions experienced in the cancer treatment market will be largely eliminated.”
He also added, “These projects will allow for the dispensation of import programs without compromising availability and without creating tensions regarding the provision of these medicines.”
On the other hand, Al-Sabah’s guest pointed out that “there is an improvement in the availability of medicines after the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the efforts made by the Ministry with pharmaceutical dealers in order to control the market and raise production capacities in order to ensure health sovereignty.”
On the other hand, the head of the National Observatory for Vigilance and Provision of Pharmaceutical Materials revealed that “the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production has taken a number of measures regarding anesthetics intended for dental surgery, which aim to eliminate the disturbances that this substance has known in the market.”
He also indicated that “4 million doses have been distributed, which will finally resolve the disturbance recorded in this context before the end of this month.”
Finally, Belkacemi explained that “the digitization of the sector will also enable control and regulation of the pharmaceutical industry market in Algeria by controlling in a precise manner what is produced locally and what is imported.”
