President Tebboune.. That’s why we chose the name Nelson Mandela for the Baraki Stadium – Al-Houwar Algeria

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, explained the reasons that prompted the selection of the name of the African leader, Nelson Mandela, for the Baraki stadium, stressing that “the decision is a confirmation of our African depth.”

President Tebboune said, this evening, Thursday, during his supervision of the official inauguration of the Baraki stadium, that Algeria has entered the stage of proving its African identity by inaugurating the sports edifice “Nelson Mandela and hosting it in 2022, after it proved its Mediterranean affiliation in the Mediterranean Games hosted by the state of Oran, as well as its Arab affiliation by hosting the summit.” Arabia last November successfully.

President Tebboune added about the name by saying, “It is a confirmation of our African identity … Leader Mandela considered himself Algerian and trained in the ranks of the Liberation Army in 1961 in preparation for declaring war on the apartheid regime in South Africa.” He continued, “There is no African symbol that represents Algeria and Africa like Mandela.”
