Belabed: Elementary schools will not be built without sports facilities, and do not judge the achievement assessment exam – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

The Minister of National Education, Abd al-Hakim Belaabed, raised a lengthy examination of the assessment of the achievements of the primary education stage, which sparked controversy regarding its duration of up to 25 days and the exclusion of absentees during it, in return for being satisfied with notes about the level of the examinees without scoring.

Belabed said today, Thursday, during a press conference held on the sidelines of his visit to the state of Batna, that the fifth year primary students who will be tested in the assessment test for the gains of the primary education stage, starting from next Sunday until the end of May, will not take the exam on a daily basis, but they will complete the study. With a total of 112 study hours compared to 13 exam hours in 12 subjects so that these children do not feel psychological pressure according to him.

Belaabed refused to judge the failure of the exam to assess the achievements of the primary education stage in its first session, and said that its results will appear after years when the big difference between the success rate in the end-of-primary education exam and the intermediate education certificate exam disappears, indicating that the transition to intermediate school includes everyone, even those who He obtained very low results in some subjects, and he said, “It may be that the student got 8 in Arabic and French and 0 in mathematics, so he moves to intermediate school, and he is weak in this subject, but the exam in its new form will enable a real evaluation of the level of each student so that parents and teachers can To support him in the subjects he needs and to ensure his success in the second stage of education – the intermediate stage -.

Regarding the decision to entrust physical education in primary education to specialists by employing 12,000 sports teachers who graduated from the university with a degree in this field, Belabed said that the decision is accompanied by other executive measures represented in preventing the completion of primary schools without sports facilities and the establishment of public sports facilities, whether they are institutions. Public educational or sports facilities belonging to local groups or youth and sports for the benefit of primary schools that lack sports facilities, while the modularity of building primary schools has been modified by the necessity of completing a sports facility in all new schools. He added that this decision will have positive returns on the health and physical level of the child, in accordance with the fourth recommendation of UNESCO.

Regarding the many absences among fifth-year students and their orientation to support lessons, the minister was surprised at the absence of the role of parents in this regard, adding that he would take care of the matter within the framework of reforms. On the other hand, regarding the ministry’s refusal to put in place special measures for the benefit of candidates for the baccalaureate exams with autism, the minister explained that it is not possible to put in place special procedures for a group that does not suffer from a problem in intelligence, reading and writing, and sowing doubts about their abilities, while the effort is to integrate them with ordinary students.
