An international forum to mobilize Islamic media support for initiatives to recognize Palestine and confront hostile discourses

With the participation of news agencies in Islamic countries, international media unions, representatives of international media, a number of international organizations, and diplomatic, cultural and religious figures; The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA) and the Assistant Secretariat for Institutional Communication of the Muslim World League are organizing, next Sunday (June 9, 2024), a media forum entitled: “Media and Palestinian Right: Practical steps to build on initiatives to recognize Palestine.”
The forum, which will be held remotely, aims to establish a practical basis for Islamic and international media cooperation in order to support initiatives to recognize the State of Palestine and enable the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights, in addition to strengthening the role of the media in resolving international crises and working to spread a culture of peace and coexistence among peoples. And different civilizations.
The Acting Director General of the Federation of Organization of Islamic Cooperation News Agencies, Mr. Muhammad bin Abd Rabbuh Al-Yami, explained that the forum will present practical steps to enhance international media cooperation on the Palestinian issue, by intensifying media coverage of announcements issued by countries around the world regarding recognition of Palestine, and addressing them in a positive manner. Activating the role of the media in detecting and preventing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
For his part, the General Director of Content at the Muslim World League, Mr. Yasser Al-Ghamdi, explained that the forum seeks to put forward practical initiatives to employ the media more effectively that enshrine the rights of the Palestinian people as stipulated in international law and its references, including recognition of their independent state, and confronting media discourses that are hostile to these rights. legitimate humanity, taking advantage of the current supportive global situation in which the facts are beginning to emerge.
