On Thursday, the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, Tayeb Zitouni, and the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Gharib, chaired a working meeting devoted to the project to complete the new Exhibition Palace, according to a joint statement by the two ministries.
During this meeting, details of the progress of the project were reviewed, the completion of which was entrusted to the “Batimetal” company, affiliated with the industrial sector.
In this context, Mr. Zitouni stressed in his speech the necessity of completing this “strategic” project within the specified deadlines, noting that it will constitute an important turning point in Algeria’s economic infrastructure.
The Minister stated that the new Exhibition Palace project is considered one of the first major projects that received the supervision of the President of the Republic in laying its foundation stone, as it is a strategic project that will enhance the economic infrastructure and Algeria’s position as a regional economic and commercial center.
He highlighted that the new Exhibition Palace will be ready after receiving it to host major economic events, even continental and regional events, such as the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Exhibition scheduled to be organized in September 2025.
The project comes – the minister adds – as part of an ambitious plan that includes establishing 12 new branches of the “SAFEX” complex, which is affiliated with the internal trade and national market control sector, at the level of several states, with the aim of strengthening the commercial infrastructure and improving the distribution of activities and exhibitions at the national level.
These branches will also contribute to enhancing investment opportunities and achieving balanced development between the various regions of the country, according to the minister’s statements contained in the statement.
Mr. Zitouni called for “consolidated efforts among the various parties concerned to ensure the readiness of the project, stressing that the success of the new Exhibition Palace project is a collective responsibility that requires effective cooperation and tight management.”
For his part, Mr. Gharib explained that his ministry is committed to providing the necessary support to overcome technical and logistical obstacles, stressing that the project will be a vital tributary to advancing economic development and strengthening Algeria’s position as a regional economic and commercial center.
After the meeting, the two ministers made a field visit to the project site, where they inspected the progress of the works.
It is noteworthy that the new Exhibition Palace project covers an area of 54 hectares, where, in addition to the exhibition pavilions, there are many facilities and services, such as conference halls and restaurants.
The first part of the project includes the completion of the first exhibition hall, the Forum (Saha), a conference complex with a capacity of 500 seats, and a meeting hall with a capacity of 200 seats on a total area of 45 thousand square meters.
