Zaytouni: An exceptional program to import red and white meat in preparation for Ramadan – Algerian Al-Hiwar
During a visit to the pavilions of the 32nd edition of the National Production Exhibition, Mr. Zitouni explained that this program, which comes to preserve the abundance of this main material during the month of Ramadan and the purchasing power of citizens, will be implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries.
To cover the increasing demand during the month of Ramadan, converters of white sugar and edible oil were obligated to double their production, starting next January, in addition to strengthening the monthly quota of milk powder for lactating women.
The system of additional quotas of durum wheat directed to 165 mills will also be extended in order to provide additional quantities of semolina during the holy month.
As part of the preparatory measures for Ramadan, neighborhood markets will be opened in each district two weeks before the beginning of the holy month, with authorization for discounts and promotional sales of all materials, including clothing.
The minister warned that any attempt to speculate during the month of Ramadan would be “just a desperate attempt,” given the proactive measures aimed at providing goods in the national market sufficiently, “even more than last year.”
In this context, the Minister stressed that price stability constitutes one of the President of the Republic’s obligations to the citizen, which the internal trade sector is working to implement on the ground, as it seeks with its partners to ensure the provision of goods “at prices commensurate with the purchasing power of citizens.”
After stating that the Finance Law of 2025 did not include any increases or additional burdens on companies, Mr. Zitouni called on economic operators to adhere to their responsibility to maintain price stability, denying that there was “any justification for raising prices during the coming year.”
Regarding automobile oils, Mr. Zitouni highlighted the importance that the state attaches to encouraging investment in this sector, pointing out that the available national capabilities will allow stopping imports in this field before the end of 2025.
Last Thursday, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, supervised the inauguration of the 32nd edition of the Algerian Production Exhibition (December 19 to 28 at the Exhibition Palace), where he witnessed the great progress achieved by Algerian production and service institutions in various sectors, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
This edition is held under the slogan “Our production, the pillar of our sovereignty,” with the participation of 603 exhibiting institutions, including 84 exporting institutions.
