Today, Monday, the Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion published the results of the activity of economic control and fraud suppression, during the month of Ramadan for the year 2023.

Within the framework of quality control and the suppression of fraud, speculation and control of commercial activities, the control services of the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion recorded, during the 29 days of the holy month of Ramadan, the control authorities carried out more than 196 thousand interventions during the month of Ramadan, which resulted in the inspection of more than 35 thousand violations with seizure Goods worth nearly 150 million DZD.

The ministry’s statement stated that within the framework of quality control and suppression of fraud, speculation and monitoring of commercial activities, its monitoring services carried out 196,447 interventions at the national level during the 29 days of Ramadan, as a result of which 35,004 violations were inspected, and 34,061 official records were issued for judicial follow-up against The violators, in addition to seizing products estimated at 2.974 tons and 15.854 liters at a value of 149.48 million DZD, were also proposed to close 1,509 commercial stores, according to the same outcome, which showed a total amount of uninvoiced goods at 6.9 billion DZD.

This total recorded throughout the month of Ramadan is divided into two parts, which are quality control and fraud suppression, and control of commercial practices. Within the framework of quality control and fraud suppression, the same departments recorded 89,901 interventions, which enabled the monitoring teams to inspect 13,731 violations and issue 12,874 official records for judicial follow-up with a proposal for administrative closure. For 423 shops.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, these interventions allowed the seizure of non-conforming and/or unfit for consumption commodities amounting to 2.974 tons and 15.854 liters, with a total financial value of 133.4 million DZD.

The ministry pointed out that with regard to some commodities that did not conform and were fit for consumption, they were transferred to the centers of public benefit, while non-conforming meat was directed to the barn of stray dogs, the animal quarry, the center for cleaning and taming dogs and zoos.

As for the nature of the registered violations, it was mainly represented in non-compliance with the mandatory cleanliness and hygiene with 6,259 violations (46 percent), the possession and sale of materials unfit for consumption with 2,140 violations (16 percent), and non-respect of the mandatory prior control, as 1,709 violations were identified, representing 12 percent. .

Among the violations that the monitoring teams examined were non-compliance with preservation levels with 1,194 violations (8 percent), non-respect of the obligation to inform the consumer with 646 violations (5 percent), as well as the possession and sale of non-conforming materials with 504 violations (4 percent), and other violations such as non-respect. Mandatory product security, non-respect for food safety, and non-respect for mandatory product guarantee amounted to 1,279 violations, representing 9 percent.

On the other hand, in the part related to monitoring commercial practices, control teams across the country’s states carried out a total of 106,546 interventions that enabled the examination of 21,273 violations and the issuance of 21,187 official records for judicial follow-up.

As a result of these interventions, 1,086 shops were proposed to be closed, a total amount of uninvoiced goods estimated at 6.919 million DZD was disclosed, and goods worth 16.06 million DZD were seized.

Regarding the nature of the registered violations, it was mainly represented in the non-disclosure of prices and tariffs with 11,953 violations, with a percentage of 56 percent, the non-invoicing with 1,789 violations (8 percent), and the failure to register in the commercial register with 1,017 violations (5 percent).

On the other hand, in the part related to monitoring commercial practices, control teams across the country’s states carried out a total of 106,546 interventions that enabled the examination of 21,273 violations and the issuance of 21,187 official records for judicial follow-up.

As a result of these interventions, 1,086 shops were proposed to be closed, a total amount of uninvoiced goods estimated at 6.919 million DZD was disclosed, and goods worth 16.06 million DZD were seized.

Regarding the nature of the registered violations, it was mainly represented in the non-disclosure of prices and tariffs with 11,953 violations, with a percentage of 56 percent, the non-invoicing with 1,789 violations (8 percent), and the failure to register in the commercial register with 1,017 violations (5 percent).
