The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement: “Units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out, during the period from 20 to 26 September 2023, many operations that resulted in qualitative results that reflect the extent of the high professionalism and constant vigilance and readiness of our armed forces throughout the national territory.”
The statement added, “In this context and in continuation of the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested 55 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring 08 quintals and 74 kilograms of processed kif through The border with Morocco, while 2.6 kilograms of cocaine and 170,174 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.
The source continued, “In Tamanrasset, In Guezam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Saleh and Djanet, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 320 people and seized 12 vehicles, 336 electric generators, 217 hammers, and 03 metal detectors, in addition to quantities of explosives, blasting equipment, and equipment used in excavation operations.” illicit gold, while 25 other people were arrested and 03 Kalashnikov machine guns, 27 hunting rifles, 170 quintals of tobacco and 336,851 units of various fireworks were seized, during separate operations across the national territory. Border guards, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie and Customs, also thwarted attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel estimated at 32,582 liters in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tebessa, Souk Ahras and El Tarf.
On the other hand, joint detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 562 illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory.
