The United Nations commends the pivotal role of Algeria and the efforts of President Tebboune in resolving the crisis in Mali

Members of the UN Security Council, during a meeting held yesterday in New York, praised Algeria’s role in leading international mediation, in view of its continuous commitment to the side of the Malians on the road to restoring stability to Mali, especially through the various consultations that took place in Algeria and Bamako.
The members of the Security Council also noted the relentless efforts of international mediation aimed at preserving the firm commitment of the signatories to the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali emanating from the Algeria track, within the framework of the Algiers Agreement Follow-up Committee, headed by Algeria, and converging points of view in order to fully embody the agreement.
In this regard, the members of the Security Council called on the Malian parties to the necessity of “rapid and full” implementation of the Algiers Agreement, which remains the cornerstone of lasting peace and stability in Mali and whose embodiment has become necessary today more than ever, especially in the transitional situation.
