The trial of the “Tahkout” family has been postponed to the next June 4 – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Today, Sunday, the eighth Criminal Chamber of the Algerian Judicial Council postponed the decision on the case in which a number of family members of the arrested businessman, Mohieddin Tahkout, including his brothers and sons, and other defendants, are being pursued, to the next session of June 4.

The decision to postpone came at a request made by the defense team. Among the defendants under follow-up are Tahkout Bilal, Sayed Ali Tahkout, Youssef Tahkout and Nasser Tahkout, along with other defendants who have been pursued, and the matter relates to employees of Raghaya municipality.

The trial comes in the wake of the findings of the investigation of the defendants’ disposal of the properties represented in 1025 luxury cars of various types, in addition to the disposal of real estate, which were seized by a judicial order and were sold in a manner contrary to the law, relying on financial liquidity.

The defendants are pursuing charges included in the Anti-Corruption and Prevention Law, which are concealing criminal proceeds resulting from corruption crimes, money laundering, concealing criminal proceeds by concealing their criminal source, forgery, and forged use in administrative papers for the purpose of proving a right, personality, capacity, or granting money laundering permission to use facilities. Granted by professional activity within the framework of an organized criminal group.

The Economic and Financial Penal Court in Sidi Mohamed had previously issued varying sentences against them, ranging from innocence to 10 years in prison, and a penalty of 15 years in prison for some of the defendants who were on the run with the support of an arrest warrant.

The court also passed a ruling ordering the confiscation of all seized property, real estate and bank accounts mentioned in the seizure minutes issued by the investigating judge.
