The start of the preparatory meeting for the Arab Summit, and intense activity by Minister Attaf

The ministerial preparatory meetings for the thirty-third summit of the Arab League Council began this morning in the Bahraini capital, Manama, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf.

According to the Ministry’s statement, these meetings focused on following up on the implementation of the decisions that were adopted during the previous summit held in Jeddah, as well as deliberating on the most important topics proposed to be included on the agenda of the Manama Summit, most notably the Palestinian issue and the latest developments in the situation related to Arab national security in its various dimensions.

In this context, praise was given in particular to the efforts that Algeria has been making since joining the Security Council in support of the Palestinian cause, especially its role in advancing the urgent priorities imposed by the current situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as its efforts to enable the State of Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations.

On the sidelines of the works, Minister Ahmed Attaf held bilateral talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, where the two parties discussed topics related to Algerian-Jordanian relations, as well as inter-coordination regarding preparation for the Manama Summit.

Minister Ahmed Attaf also met with his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, in a consultative meeting devoted to exchanging analyzes and visions on the latest developments in the situation at the Arab and African levels, by virtue of the roles assigned to the two brotherly countries in these two spaces.

Minister Attaf also met with his Yemeni counterpart, Mohsen Al-Zindani, where the two parties reviewed the latest developments in the situation in Yemen and the prospects for providing and mobilizing the necessary support for it through the UN Security Council.
