The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, returned on Friday to his homeland, after participating in the work of the 78th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York (United States of America).

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic explained that the President of the Republic returned to the homeland and was received by the President of the Republic at Houari Boumediene International Airport, the Prime Minister, Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Saeed Chengriha, and the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Mohamed Nadhir Al-Arbaoui.

The President of the Republic was intensely active during his participation in the high-level week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he delivered a speech in which he stressed the necessity of establishing a more balanced and equitable multipolar world.

During his speech, the President stressed that “conflicts and crises in the world have reached an unprecedented level, displaced millions of people, and transformed international relations from a relationship of cooperation and consensus into confrontation and clashes, putting international bodies and institutions to the test, at a time when the world is witnessing a pressing emergency, climate and other.” .

The President of the Republic added, in the face of these geopolitical conflicts and multiple crises, the weakness of the Security Council in recent years in its pivotal role upon which the United Nations was founded, and whose most important purposes were summarized in the Charter – the Charter of the United Nations – in holding it responsible for maintaining international peace and security, especially by preventing resort to violence. Force and the removal of threats to peace, in addition to the peaceful settlement of disputes.

President Tebboune continued, “It is time to think together about ways to uphold the values ​​and principles of the United Nations Charter, strengthen our collective commitments, and lay solid foundations that lead to more effective global cooperation on key issues, so that we can radiate international peace and security and achieve the goals of sustainable development.” “In a multipolar world.”

President Tebboune noted, “From this perspective, Algeria, which is preparing to take its non-permanent seat in the Security Council, is aware of the weight of the responsibility placed on its shoulders in view of the enormous challenges facing the international community.”

President Tebboune also added, “I take this opportunity to renew my thanks to all the 184 countries that voted in favor of my country. It is a trust that Algeria will be keen to preserve during its mandate in the Council, and will seek to embody it in close cooperation with all member states of the Security Council and the United Nations, and by harnessing Algeria’s rich experience in The field of mediation, giving priority to political solutions, and peaceful settlement of disputes.”
