The Palestinian team reaches the final of the Asian Cup

The Palestinian national team wrote a new chapter in its football history, on the occasion of its participation in the Asian Cup finals hosted by Qatar during the period from January 12 to February 10.

“Al-Fedayi” was able to win the qualification visa to the round of 16 for the first time in its history, after its victory over Hong Kong by 3-0 in the match that was held on the floor of Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The Palestinian team opened the scoring early through striker Uday Al-Dabbagh, after receiving a long pass from captain Musab Al-Battat, which he finished with a powerful header in the eleventh minute.

The same player reappeared again with two dangerous chances, but he missed them due to a lack of concentration, so the first half ended with his country leading by a goal to zero.

The Palestinian team’s return from the half-time break was successful, with Zaid Qanbar adding the second goal in the 48th minute with a header that came after another cross from right-back Musab Al-Battat.

Uday Al-Dabbagh concluded the match’s series of goals, after taking advantage of the opponent’s defense’s hesitation to clear the ball after it bounced off the crossbar in the 60th minute.

The Palestinian team will be accompanied by Iran, who leads Group C with a full score, and the UAE, which came in second place with 4 points, but with a goal advantage of (+1).

Similar to the African Cup of Nations, the AFC regulations stipulate that the four best teams that finished in third place in the group stage are granted a transit visa to the Round of 16, which the Palestinian team benefited from after scoring four points.
