The outcome of the intervention of civil protection units during the last 24 hours – New Algeria

Today, Thursday, the Civil Protection Services revealed the results of their services’ intervention during the period extending from December 25 to 26, 2024.

According to the same departments, civil protection units recorded 2,743 interventions (01 intervention every 31 seconds), including 1,733 health evacuations and 517 different operations, across several states of the country, and this was as a result of receiving distress calls from citizens. These interventions included various areas of civil protection activities. Whether related to traffic accidents, home accidents, health evacuation, fire suppression, as well as security services.

In the context of traffic accidents, civil protection units carried out 179 interventions following accidents recorded across several states. These accidents left 05 people dead and 189 others injured with various injuries. The victims were taken care of at the scene of the accidents and transferred to local hospitals by civil protection personnel. The heaviest toll recorded in the state of Ghardaia, with the death of 02 people as a result of a collision between a semi-trailer truck and a car on the level of National Road No. 01, municipality of Metlili.
Civil Protection also intervened to provide first aid to 21 people who were poisoned as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide gas emitted from heating devices and water heaters inside their homes across the states of Souk Ahras with 04 people, Saida with 05 people, Guelma with 04 people, and Batna with 03 people, Naama with 02 people, and the states of El Bayadh, Setif and Béchar, 01 people in each state. The victims were taken care of on the spot and transferred in stable condition to local hospitals. For your information, the death of (01) 58-year-old man was recorded, poisoned by carbon monoxide gas emanating from a heater in the family residence, in the neighborhood of Dekna Municipality and Tebessa District. The victim was transferred. To the local hospital.
For reference, civil protection personnel intervened to extinguish 06 different urban fires in each of Algiers Province with 01 fires, Constantine with 03 fires, Medea 01 fires and Mostaganem 01 fires. These fires resulted in 03 people being injured with third-degree burns in Constantine Province, 02. Two people initially suffocated due to smoke in the state of Medea, as well as a person who suffered first-degree burns in the state Mostaganem, the necessary first aid was provided on the spot and the victims were transferred to local hospitals. Our first aid intervention made it possible to control these fires and prevent their spread to other nearby places.
