The Ministry of National Defense announced that young citizens born between January 1 and December 30, 2005 are obligated to perform the medical selection prescribed in Law No. 14-06 of August 9, 2014 relating to national service.

The Ministry of National Defense explained, in a publication on its official newspaper on the social networking site Facebook, that young people who have received an attendance order for medical selection are required to apply on the date indicated on the attendance order to the National Service Center or the Regional Center for National Service to which they belong, attaching the attendance order. An identity card, a residence card, in addition to a school certificate, two copies of identity, and possibly documents proving their health condition.

With regard to citizens who have not received an order to appear for medical selection, they must withdraw it either by approaching the municipal headquarters of their place of birth or by approaching the National Service Center or the Regional Service Center to which they belong, according to the same source.

It should be noted that young people summoned, on the day of the medical selection procedure, can deposit their files in order to obtain a postponement or exemption at the National Service Center or the Regional Center for National Service.

The Ministry of National Defense also confirmed that every citizen who does not respond to the medical selection order is automatically declared qualified and loses the right to request an exemption and is summoned to perform his obligations with payments related to his age group, and when he reaches the full age of 25 years, he is considered a sinner, except in the case of force majeure.

As a reminder, last month, the Ministry of National Defense invited citizens born between January 1 and December 31, 2007, to register on the national service lists.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that citizens born between January 1 and December 31, 2007 are obligated to register themselves in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 14-06 of August 9, 2014 related to national service.

The Ministry explained that those concerned or their guardians must apply during the period between January 2 and September 30, 2024, to the municipality of their place of residence, attaching the following documents: a birth certificate, a proof of residence document, and two copies of identity. The same source indicated that a census certificate in the census lists will be delivered to those concerned by the municipality’s departments.

The Ministry of Defense also noted, in its statement, that national service is compulsory for all Algerian citizens who have reached the age of 19 years. Concerned citizens must register themselves in the census lists of their municipality of residence. Or at diplomatic or consular representations abroad and a census certificate is issued to them.
