The Ministry of Agriculture is moving to curb the unjustified rise in white meat prices – Algerian Dialogue

Following the unjustified rise in the price of white meat during the last twenty-four hours, despite the great abundance of this product, Mohamed Abdel Hafeez Hani, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, yesterday, Sunday, quickly summoned to the Ministry’s headquarters all those involved in this division, (the National Office for Livestock Nutrition). ONAB, the Algerian Company for the Control of Agricultural Products (SARPA), the Public Economic Refrigeration Corporation (FRIGOMEDIT), representatives of the National Federation of Poultry Breeders affiliated with the National Union of Algerian Peasants (UNPA), and private breeders, in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion.

Following this meeting, decisions were made to initiate investigations by the veterinary services. Accelerating the pace of providing inputs (poultry feed) for the benefit of small breeders in exchange for providing only the health accreditation issued by the state’s veterinary departments; Notifying the prices (the lowest at the national market level) for feed marketed by the National Livestock Nutrition Office (ONAB), which are considered fixed throughout the year; Report the unit price for Poussin Chair 1 Jour, set at 120 DZD per unit. Sale remains free with a tracking system for breeders and breeding cooperatives for white meat. Increasing production capacities by supplying the market with local production

And the importer; Reducing the time frame for supplying the market with imported white meat. Initiating consultations with representatives of the National Federation of Poultry Breeders, to reach a branch agreement (convention de branche) as soon as possible for the purpose of determining the optimal organization and management model for the division, with the aim of ensuring price stability at the market level (this sub-consultation will concern all those involved in the division: feed producers , breeders, slaughterhouses, cooperatives, institutions and bodies…).
