The Minister of Post participates in a ministerial round table during the World Summit on the Information Society Forum – Algerian Dialogue

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, participated in a ministerial round table within the activities of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum ongoing in Geneva, Switzerland, which discussed the most important achievements in the field of developing the information society at the global level, the high-level event in which he participated. The participating ministers presented their countries’ experiences in this field in order to reduce the digital divide.

In this context, the Minister recalled Algeria’s commitment to working to build an information society based on information and communication technologies in the context of its quest to achieve sustainable development and social inclusion.

He also pointed out that the efforts being made in the field of disseminating information and communication technologies, currently, aim not only to connect individuals, but also to create a vibrant digital environment and provide access to these technologies to all citizens to reduce the digital gap and provide quality services, which requires providing the appropriate infrastructure for this. .

In this context, Bibi Triki stressed that Algeria has been working on developing communications networks and connecting the unconnected, with a dynamic approach aimed at accelerating the pace of the transition to the digital economy and keeping pace with various developments in this field, noting that the projects that were implemented contributed to enabling 80% of Algerian citizens to access Regular access to high-flow Internet, via various technologies, by harnessing important investments given the vastness of Algeria, and the necessity for all its citizens to benefit, without exclusion, from the same quality of services.
