The Judicial Council issued a statement regarding the case of a criminal network active in the field Money Laundering And concealing criminal proceeds resulting from suspicious commercial practices in the field of tobacco trade.

The source stated that these funds are later deposited in various banks in the names of suspects to prevent the discovery of their suspicious source resulting from tax evasion and money laundering, in addition to the seizure of counterfeit sums of money in the national currency.

The Algerian Judicial Council added that, based on the results of the preliminary investigation, the Republic Prosecution issued a permit to seize real estate property, movables, funds in bank accounts, and precious metals in an amount exceeding 543 billion centimes.

The suspects were also presented yesterday before the Republic Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered the opening of a judicial investigation into the facts against the accused, “B.D.K.,” his company, and those with them.

The statement highlighted that the investigating judge interrogated the defendants upon first appearance and issued orders to place 12 defendants in temporary detention while subjecting the remaining defendants to judicial supervision procedures.

The Algerian Judicial Council noted that the judicial investigation into the incidents is still ongoing.
