The General Assembly of Sonatrach adopts the development plan for the period 2025-2029 – Algerian Dialogue

The Sonatrach Ordinary General Assembly, which was held today, Thursday in Algiers, approved the medium-term development plan for the period 2025-2029, which mainly includes intensifying exploration and production efforts to enhance hydrocarbon reserves, according to a Sonatrach statement.

During the General Assembly held in accordance with the Corporation’s basic law, headed by the Minister of State and Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, the Corporation’s annual budget for the year 2025 was approved, as well as the medium-term development plan for the period 2025-2029, related to the value chain, including intensifying exploration efforts. And production to enhance fuel reserves and develop the pipeline transportation network,” the statement explains.

The plan also includes “ambitious programs in the fields of conversion, refining and petrochemistry to cover the needs of the national market, as well as increasing the company’s export capabilities of fuels and derivative products.”

The works took place with the participation of the Minister of Finance, Laziz Fayed, and the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, Salah Eddine Taleb, along with Fawzi Amqrane, representing the Presidency of the Republic, in their capacity as members of the General Assembly, as well as members of the Board of Directors.

This plan also includes, according to the statement, “development projects related to digitization and energy transformation, as Sonatrach renewed its commitment to sustainability by launching projects

To reduce the carbon footprint with a focus on developing renewable energy projects, and adhering to international environmental standards, which will consolidate its position as a pioneering company in the energy transition at the local and international levels.”
