The French far right is moving its pawns to attack Algeria again – The New Algeria
The former French ambassador to Algeria twice, Xavier Driancourt, returned again to attack Algeria and its interests in France, and always through the platform of the extreme right, “Le Figaro” magazine and its branches, which used the method of provocation and turning the Paris authorities against Algeria.
In this regard, “Le Figaro” magazine conducted an interview with the former French ambassador to Algeria, He worked on it despite his repeated demands to cancel it.
Driancourt also spoke in this boring and repetitive dialogue in terms of ideas that he had previously expressed in previous dialogues, such as what was related to the visa and immigration file. However, what was new was his proposal to the French government to close some Algerian consulates in France, which provide services to the Algerian community that is at risk. There are millions.
For the first time, the retired French diplomat spoke about the number of Algerians residing in France, which he said constituted 40 percent of the immigrants there, a number that seemed to bother him, which prompted him to demand the cancellation of the 1968 agreement, which he said provided them with exclusive privileges in terms of residency and work. And study.
Driancourt said that the 1968 agreement gives priority to Algerian immigrants because it gives them “many privileges,” including faster access than other nationalities to family reunification, allowing students to work, and establishing private housing, not to mention the ease of obtaining a residence certificate and the status of a distinguished trader.
The French ambassador warned that the new immigration laws voted on by the French Parliament do not include French nationals of Algerian origins, as they are subject only to the 1968 agreement signed between the Algerian and French governments, as they trump national laws as an agreement of an international nature.
Hence, Drinkur called for the cancellation of this agreement and the closure of the Algerian consulates (…), in a strange position as it comes from a diplomat, because the consulates are part of the diplomatic representation governed by recognized international agreements, in addition to the fact that Algeria did not take the initiative to close any French consulate, which authorizes Paris Resorting to the logic of reciprocity.
