The delegations participating in the North African Defense Ministers’ Council meeting visited the logistic base of the North African region’s capacity in Jijel – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

On the sidelines of the tenth meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers, the eleventh of the Chiefs of Staff Committee and the fourteenth of the experts of the member states in the capacity of the North African region, held in Algeria during the period from 02 to 06 May 2023, the delegations of Algeria, Egypt, Libya and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic The Executive Secretariat of the North African Region Capability, participating in these meetings, yesterday, May 05, 2023, visited the regional logistics base of the North African Region Capability located in Jijel.

The delegations were received by the Chief of Staff of the Fifth Military Region, accompanied by the Commander of the Regional Logistics Base and executives from the Military Region Command. After the welcoming speech, a presentation was made on the base’s tasks and capabilities harnessed to ensure a quick and effective response to the logistical needs of the African Ready Force. After that, the installations of this regional logistical base, which play a major role in logistical support for the regional force ready for the capacity of the North African region, as well as the African ready force, will be examined in the event that they are deployed within the peace support operations authorized by the African Union or the United Nations.

This visit was an opportunity in which representatives of member states and the Executive Secretariat of the North African region exchanged views on regional security stakes and logistical challenges faced by the African Standby Force, where they stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the field of security and safety and the commitment of North African countries to strengthen their capabilities within the force. ready-made African countries and strengthening cooperation in the logistical field.
