The Sonelgaz Group, within the framework of improving the level of public service in the state of Algiers, has made total investments exceeding 90.5 billion dinars, according to what was reported today, Monday, in a statement by the public company, following a coordination meeting to follow up on the level of Sonelgaz’s performance at the state level.

Regarding the outcome of the complex’s performance for the year 2023 and the work plan for 2024/2025, which were presented yesterday, Sunday, during a coordination meeting to follow up on the level of performance of “Sonelgaz” at the level of the state of Algiers, it was chaired by the governor of the state of Algiers, Mohamed Abdelnour Rabhi, and the president and director general. According to Sonelgaz, Mourad Ajal, total investments amounting to 90.507 billion dinars were revealed to improve the level of public service in Algiers, according to the statement.

During the meeting, which was attended by the governors delegated to the state of Algiers and the executive directors at the state level, in addition to a number of the main executives operating in Sonelgaz, a detailed presentation was presented by “Sonelgaz” that addressed the number of achievements made by the complex within the framework of improving the level of public service for the benefit of the citizen. Including what was achieved by implementing the emergency program for the same state.

The statement regarding the outcome of preparations for the summer of 2024, in the field of production, transmission and distribution of electricity, stated that Sonelgaz invested 19 thousand and 717 million dinars (more than 19.7 billion dinars) allocated to strengthening production capabilities at the level of Algiers, while 23 energy facilities were completed to strengthen the transmission network. Electricity equivalent to 20 thousand million dinars (20 billion DZD).

As for electricity distribution, this field has witnessed the implementation of investments worth 5,790 million dinars (more than 5.7 billion DZD) to strengthen the distribution network, in addition to recruiting technical teams in various specializations ready for rapid intervention in any circumstance, according to the public company.

The presentation also addressed the presentation of the short- and medium-term development plan that Sonelgaz prepared for the state of Algiers, related to strengthening the electricity network for the year 2025, as well as the maintenance program, as the company allocated a budget estimated at approximately 45 thousand million dinars (45 billion DZD) to implement this program.

A presentation was also given on gas in the winter of 2024/25, highlighting a number of obstacles recorded at the state level that hinder some energy projects.

The outcome of the program for installing carbon monogas leak detectors was also presented, as well as the program for installing electricity charging poles. These are the programs that Sonelgaz undertakes to implement, based on instructions from the country’s higher authorities, and which are completed in a timely and effective manner.

During the meeting, the Governor of Algeria, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Nour Rabhi, expressed his satisfaction with the level of effectiveness of Sonelgaz’s departments and its frameworks in dealing with the obstacles and problems that were raised in previous meetings. He also expressed his satisfaction regarding the projects and achievements that have been achieved, which generally aim to improve the level of service. Public, which is the common goal between the state’s interests and Sonelgaz.

For his part, the President, General Director of Sonelgaz, praised the level of support that the company received from the state authorities and energy managers, which according to him helped “activate and accelerate the pace of achievement,” pointing out the importance of coordination and the necessity of passing information in a way that enables Sonelgaz to confront any possible fluctuations in supply. The meeting culminated, according to the same source, with an agreement to maintain the previously established joint work cell in order to follow up on the preparations program for the winter of 2024/2025.
