The army continues to achieve qualitative results in the fight against crime

Within a week, the National Army detachments were able to arrest two members of support for terrorist groups, while 46 drug dealers were arrested and attempts to bring more than 3 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco were thwarted.

A statement by the Ministry of National Defense said on Wednesday that, within the framework of the fight against terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested two members of support for terrorist groups during two separate operations, while two conventional bombs were discovered and destroyed in Boumerdes.

In the same context, and within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested 46 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring in 3 quintals and 45 kilograms of kif. The processor crossed the border with Morocco, while 32,579 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

The statement added that other detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 271 people in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezam, and Djanet, and seized 30 vehicles, 127 electric generators, 106 hammers, 10 metal detectors, and 21 quintals of gold ore and stones. In addition to quantities of explosives, blasting equipment, and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations.

Army detachments also arrested 25 other people and seized 11 hunting rifles, 3 automatic pistols, 20,587 liters of fuel, 58 tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation, and 83 quintals of tobacco, during separate operations across the national territory.

On the other hand, the coast guards were able to thwart illegal immigration attempts on the national coasts by 39 people who were on board traditional-made boats, while 294 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.

These operations, carried out by units and detachments of the People’s National Army, come in the context of the continuing efforts made to combat terrorism and combat organized crime in all its forms, and reflect the extent of the high professionalism, constant vigilance and readiness of the armed forces throughout the national territory.
