A statement issued by the “Ministry of National Defense”, on Wednesday, stated that within the framework of the fight against terrorism, a joint detachment of People’s National Army managed, during a search and inspection operation in Boumerdes, to discover and destroy 7 caches of terrorist groups containing 10 defensive hand grenades, 4 homemade bombs, in addition to Field scopes, a quantity of explosive materials and other items, with the arrest of 3 elements supporting terrorist groups during separate operations across the national territory.
In the same context, and within the framework of the fight against organized crime and in continuation of the relentless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, joint detachments of People’s National Army, in coordination with the various security services, stopped during operations across the military regions, 21 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring in a quintal and 29 kilograms of treated kif. crossed the border with Morocco, while 115,284 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.
Detachments of People’s National Army also arrested, in Tamanrasset, In Gezam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ain Salah, and In Amenas, 284 people and seized 22 vehicles, 214 generators, 125 hammers, 5 metal detectors, and 5.85 tons of mixture. Gold ore and stones, in addition to quantities of explosives, detonating equipment and equipment used in illegal gold exploration operations.
The statement added that other detachments of People’s National Army arrested 17 other people and seized 15 hunting rifles, 37 quintals of tobacco, 362 tons of food destined for smuggling and speculation, during separate operations across the national territory, and border guards were thwarted in coordination with the services of the National Gendarmerie. And customs, attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel estimated at 8,945 liters in Tebessa, Souk Ahras, and El Tarf.
On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on the national coasts and rescued 46 people who were on traditionally made boats, while 99 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
These operations carried out by the units and detachments of People’s National Army, in the context of the continuous efforts exerted in combating terrorism and combating organized crime in all its forms, reflect the extent of the high professionalism, vigilance and constant readiness of the Armed Forces throughout the national territory.
