The army achieves qualitative results in combating organized crime

Within a week, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 12 members of support for terrorist groups, while 93 drug dealers were arrested and attempts to bring 7 quintals and 44 kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco were thwarted.

A statement by the Ministry of National Defense, on Wednesday, stated that, within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, joint detachments of the National People’s Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested 93 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to introduce 7 Qantar and 44 kilograms of processed kif crossed the border with Morocco, while 6,182 kilograms of cocaine and 214,028 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

In the same context, other detachments of the People’s National Army, in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guzzam, and In Saleh, arrested 125 people and seized 33 vehicles, 91 electric generators, 55 hammers, 244 quintals of gold ore and stones, in addition to quantities of Explosives, blasting equipment and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations.

The army detachments also arrested 38 other people and seized 26 hunting rifles, 37,266 liters of fuel, 33.5 tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation, 30 quintals of tobacco, and 20,950 units of various drinks, during separate operations across the national territory.

On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on the national coast and rescued 214 people who were on board traditional-made boats, while 326 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.

These operations, carried out by units and detachments of the People’s National Army, come in the context of the continuing efforts made in combating terrorism and combating organized crime in all its forms, to reflect the extent of the high professionalism, constant vigilance and readiness of the armed forces throughout the national territory.
