The Arab League holds an emergency meeting today
The League of Arab States decided to hold an extraordinary session of the League Council at the level of permanent delegates today, Sunday, to issue a unified Arab position on the temporary measures ordered by the International Court of Justice regarding the lawsuit filed by South Africa regarding the Zionist occupation committing the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, explained on Saturday that the meeting will be held at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat, in response to a request submitted by the State of Palestine regarding holding this extraordinary session in light of the decisions issued by the International Court of Justice yesterday.
The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, said earlier today that the State of Palestine requested this meeting to be held.
It is noteworthy that the International Court of Justice had imposed, during its session held yesterday, Friday, in The Hague, Netherlands, a number of temporary measures regarding the case brought by South Africa against the Zionist occupation, including the necessity of taking all measures to prevent acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, and to ensure the provision of needs. urgent humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip immediately.
