The Arab-Chinese Ministerial Meeting on Housing culminates in a road paper to enhance cooperation in the field of construction – Al-Hiwar Algeria

At the meeting, the two sides agreed on a road paper that defines a set of mechanisms that would allow Arab countries to benefit from the development experienced by China in the field of construction, including rapid construction technologies.

Mr. Belaribi added that this first meeting of its kind, which came at the initiative of the League of Arab States, allowed the two parties to “agree to organize an Arab-Chinese ministerial conference on housing that will be held in China” later.

During today’s meeting, several points were recorded that will form a basis for discussion between the two sides within the framework of enhancing Arab-Chinese cooperation in the field of housing and construction, adds the current president of the Council of Arab Ministers for Housing.

For his part, the Chinese minister stressed that the meeting constituted an opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of urban development between China and the Arab countries and at the same time allowed for the “formation of a comprehensive vision” on the axes of bilateral cooperation.

He also expressed his aspiration “to work together to develop urban development,” thanking, on the occasion, “the Minister of Housing and Urbanism and the city for the success of the conference.”

In his intervention during the joint press statement, Mr. Al-Maliki confirmed that the attendees proposed an action plan to exchange Arab-Chinese experiences and develop relations in the field of housing and urban development, pointing out that this meeting will be followed by other periodic meetings, which will strengthen cooperation relations between the two sides.

During this meeting, which took place in a closed session, a number of points were discussed, such as agreeing to prepare a memorandum of understanding between the General Secretariat of the Arab League and the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, and studying capacity building programs and training courses for technicians and stakeholders in the field of earthquake-resistant construction and environmentally friendly buildings, as well as Exchanging technological expertise and information related to the field of rapid construction and smart cities, according to a document submitted to the press on the occasion.

This meeting was held within the framework of the Eighth Arab Housing Conference, which is organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and which opened on Tuesday morning under the slogan “Urbanism and Sustainable Construction: Challenges and Promising Hopes.”
