Today, Thursday, Turkey’s Supreme Electoral Commission announced the final results of the second round of the presidential elections that took place on May 28, which confirm Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s victory over his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu with 52.18 percent of the vote and a second presidential term that extends until 2028.
According to the statement issued by the Supreme Authority for Elections, the objections have been resolved, and the final results of the presidential run-off elections have been sent to the Official Gazette for publication. The results indicate that 52 million and 93 thousand and 375 local voters cast their votes, which constituted a voting rate of 85.72 percent, of which Erdogan obtained 52.18 percent of the votes, while Kemal Kilicdaroglu got 47.82 percent of the votes.
Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu were competitors in the run-off after the first round of elections took place on May 14, during which Erdogan won 49.52% of the vote against 44.48% for Kilicdaroglu.
