The Director General of Algerian Customs, Major General Abdel Hafid Bakhoush, explained in a statement to the press after he and his Libyan counterpart, Major General Musa Ali Muhammad, signed the minutes of the bilateral meeting, that “the meeting was fruitful, and was characterized by a fraternal spirit, understanding, and consensus in visions, in addition to setting precise goals.” “This makes the meeting a good sign of cooperation between the customs services in the two countries, for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.”

This meeting falls – added Major General Bakhoush – within the framework of periodic bilateral meetings, to discuss everything related to the movement of goods at the border level between the two countries, in order to work on its smoothness, as well as to combat fraud, smuggling and all illegal practices, especially since the two countries share a border strip exceeding 900 kilometers in length. .

For his part, the Director General of the Libyan Customs Service focused on the importance of the border line between the two countries and what it requires to raise the level of cooperation to combat commercial fraud, smuggling and drugs, noting that “the meeting of the Joint Customs Committee is an essential step towards advancing joint work, to protect the peoples of Libya and Algeria from a standpoint.” economic, health and security.”

This meeting also touched on cooperation in the field of digitization of customs work and continuous training, especially in the field of administrative sciences.
