The Algerian government is working to continue the social support program

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Tarek Belaribi, confirmed that the government is working to continue sponsoring the social support program for the social classes and the middle class, by meeting demands for housing in various forms, and eliminating fragile housing.
The Minister explained, during a presentation he made before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People’s Assembly, on Saturday, regarding his sector’s budget, that the draft finance law for the year 2024 approved the registration of many projects, such as the registration of 210 thousand housing units in various forms, in addition to 250 thousand housing units, of which 100 are One thousand rental public housing and 150 thousand rural housing, which were approved by the President of the Republic.
Belaribi added that 460,000 housing units have been registered in various forms under the Finance Law of 2024, which will allow the fulfillment of the commitment and promises of the President of the Republic to complete one million housing units during the five-year period 2020-2024, according to what was stated in his 54 pledges.
The same speaker also highlighted that the draft finance law included the initiation of studies for the project to complete the parliamentary city, which will be an architectural masterpiece designed by Algerians, as the technical follow-up of the design prepared by Algerian engineers was initiated.
The government representative indicated that these programs constitute a preliminary stage for activating the major workshops, as they allowed the sector, through various programs, to achieve taking care of registered requests for housing, eliminating fragile housing to a significant extent, and meeting the increasing social demand for housing in its various forms.
The minister stated that these programs allowed the housing occupancy rate to be reduced to 4.25 by the end of 2023, and the ambition is to reach a rate of 4.18 by the end of the five-year program in 2024 to a rate of 4.12 by the end of 2025, as well as improving the living conditions of citizens and using building materials that have become locally produced, and working to establish New poles and social fragmentations, for better regional preparation.
Belaribi highlighted, with regard to the draft sectoral budget for the Finance Law of 2024, that the government’s endeavor is to continue taking care of the social support program for the social classes and the middle class, starting to embody the Justice 3 program, continuing to finance and implement housing programs in their various forms, and taking care of public facilities, especially on the Level of new residential neighborhoods.
