The Algerian Football Federation has delayed the date for deciding the name of the next coach for the first national team until next week, according to what was reported by national media sources.
Djamel Belmadi’s successor was scheduled to be announced today, Wednesday, following a meeting of the federation’s federal office led by President Walid Sadi, but the incomplete negotiations with the names nominated to assume the position prevented this.

The “De Zad Foot” website, citing sources from within the Algerian Football Federation, indicated that Portuguese coach José Peseiro and his Swiss counterpart, Vladimir Petkovic, received two official offers to supervise the Greens.
As Al-Ekhbariya reported earlier, the coach of the Nigerian national team, José Beseiro, hesitated to accept the offer, as he still gives priority to the Green Eagles, especially with the intention of the Nigerian Football Association to improve his salary after reaching the final of the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast recently.
The aforementioned sports website also explained that Petkovic is not satisfied with the financial offer submitted by FAF, which amounts to 120 thousand euros as a monthly salary.
The former Swiss national team coach is considering other offers at the same time as the Algerian Football Federation is negotiating.
In turn, Al-Hadaf Sports Channel reported that Petkovic was close to taking over as the national team’s coaching staff, and set the date for announcing the news next Monday.
While the same media outlet denied all the reports linking French coach Laurent Blanc to Algeria, and confirmed that the Algerian Federation had not contacted him.
The French press also expressed its opinion on the matter, and the well-known newspaper “L’Equipe” wrote in its latest publication about the national team: “The Swiss coach, Vladimir Petkovic, was the first to submit his candidacy file for the FAF, but he faces competition from the Portuguese Peseiro, whom President Walid Sadi wants to sign.” “With him.”
