The activities of the Second International Conference on Chest Diseases continue – New Algeria
For the second day in a row, the activities of the Second International Conference on “Bronchopulmonary Diseases and Interventional Lung Diseases,” organized by the Department of Functional and Interventional Explorations of Chest Diseases at the First Hospital of November 54 in Oran, continued.
The conference is organized under the supervision of Professor Tirfani Djahida, head of the department, in coordination with the Algerian Society of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oran, where the second day was allocated to applied educational training workshops centered on medical thoracoscopy, and rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, for the benefit of resident doctors. Professor Tarfani Jahida, head of the aforementioned department, stated that the second day of the activities of the International Conference on Interventional Pulmonary Medicine was dedicated to enhancing the skills of doctors and specialists in diagnostic techniques and treatment using endoscopes in thoracic medicine, in addition to training them and participating in the use of modern devices for rigid and flexible endoscopes. We held four workshops related to ultrasound imaging of the lungs and chest for detection and diagnosis, and a second workshop related to the diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of bronchoscopy with rigid endoscopy, which is a type of endoscopy. Which uses a rigid tube to explore the respiratory tract and perform some therapeutic procedures such as removing foreign bodies, while the flexible tube uses a flexible tube that allows the airway and lungs to be examined more accurately, and is considered the most common.
In the same context, Professor Tarvani revealed the recorded outcome of medical activities at the department level, saying that she performs 10 medical examinations daily for people suffering from respiratory diseases of all kinds, and 120 patients are received per month in order to subject them to endoscopic diagnosis of various diseases such as cancerous tumors, or Benign tumors and others, and 134 cases were recorded within a month who were subjected to the diagnosis of nodular enlargement. Mediastinal lymph node aspiration using EBUS-TBNA (ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration), while 120 patients were subjected within one month to spirometry to determine the extent of their ability to inhale and exhale, especially for patients with asthma (spiromètre), and 34 patients were received and cared for health care because of their injury.
