The opening session of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, today, Friday, was marked by the broad condemnation by leaders of countries and governments and officials of participating international bodies of the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people. .

In his speech during the opening of the summit, in which Prime Minister Nadhir Al-Arbawi participated, representing the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, whose country assumed the rotating presidency of the organization, condemned the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people, describing it as an act of “destruction.” Al-Hayat,” denouncing the silence of the international community regarding the human rights violations occurring in Gaza.

He pointed out that the ideal solution to the Palestinian issue is the “two-state solution,” which achieves peace, coexistence and stability in the Middle East region.

On the other hand, he also criticized the new international order and the dominance of unipolarity in it, arguing for a multipolar world.

For his part, the President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dennis Francis, called for an “immediate cessation” of the Zionist aggression against Gaza and work to bring humanitarian aid into the areas affected by this aggression on an “urgent” basis, stressing that a peaceful and political solution is “the only solution.” To settle the Palestinian issue once and for all, expressing his support for every initiative in this regard.

He also stressed the need to ensure respect for the principles of human rights and spread the values ​​of peaceful coexistence within the framework of international laws and conventions, noting that “these principles are the same ones that the Non-Aligned Movement was founded to defend.”

In the same context, the UN official announced his support for all initiatives aimed at “activating the pivotal role of the Non-Aligned Movement in the future and opening new horizons for cooperation among its members.”

In turn, the representative of the Republic of Turkey called on the international community to take “immediate and effective action” to provide relief to the Palestinian people and support them in self-determination and establishing their independent state on their lands with Jerusalem as its capital.

It is noteworthy that Algeria had called, during the ministerial preparatory meetings for this summit, to revive and activate the role of the small group of Non-Aligned Movement countries, represented in the Security Council, and to authorize this bloc to take actual initiatives, in order to stop the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip and lift the siege imposed on it.

In his speech during a meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, stressed the revival and activation of the role of this group and its mandate “to take actual initiatives with the aim of getting this council to carry out the responsibilities assigned to it for Stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.”
