The Ministry of National Defense published in a statement, on Wednesday, the weekly operational tally of the People’s National Army during the period extending from February 28 to March 5, 2024, throughout the national territory.
The statement explained, “In the context of the continuing efforts made in the fight against terrorism, and thanks to the qualitative efforts of the People’s National Army units, the terrorist named ‘Sh. Issa himself was taken to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar/6th MR, in possession of one (01) Kalashnikov-type machine gun and a quantity of ammunition.”
In the same context, the statement adds, “Detachments of the People’s National Army arrested (13) members of support for terrorist groups during separate operations throughout the country, while two (02) conventionally made bombs were discovered and destroyed in Ain Defla and Skikda.”
The same statement added, “Within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the tireless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested (77) drug dealers and thwarted attempts to introduce (07) ) quintals and (07) kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco, while (942,701) hallucinogenic tablets were seized.
The statement continued the Ministry of Defense’s tally, noting that “in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam and Djanet, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested (344) people and seized (34) vehicles, (159) electric generators, (78) pressure hammers, and (08) Metal detectors, in addition to quantities of explosives, blasting equipment, and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations, while (31) other people were arrested and (01) Kalashnikov-type machine gun, (05) hunting rifles, and (10677) were seized. A liter of fuel, (43) tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation, and (8,984) units of various beverages, and this was during separate operations across the country’s territory.”
On the other hand, the statement explains, “Detachments of the People’s National Army arrested (287) illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory.”
