The ministry stated in an internal note that the evacuation took place through a military plane that took off from Tel Aviv to Sofia in Bulgaria, with some or all passengers to take a rented trip to Washington.
This is the second military evacuation flight carried out by the United States this week.
The memorandum reported that more than 6400 American citizens in Israel have only submitted electronic forms to obtain information about possible evacuation plans, and the Ministry’s emergency line also received more than 3,200 additional calls to request help.
American estimates indicate the possibility of between 300 and 500 people per day to help if it is decided to organize official evacuations, which is said by the American ambassador to Israel, Mike Hackabi, that he is under study.
Despite estimates of about 700,000 Americans in Israel, most of them are dual nationalities, the actual number remains uncertain, due to the lack of obligation to inform the embassy of the presence or departure.
In a previous press conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, Tami Bruce, confirmed that more than 25,000 Americans had contacted the ministry for support and information regarding the departure of Israel, the West Bank and Iran, without explaining details about the sources of these requests or related procedures.
With regard to Iran, the document stated that 84 American citizens and residents are always “carrying the green card” crossed by Azerbaijan since the start of the crisis, while 774 others obtained entry permits until Friday, and about 200 others are awaiting approval to leave Iran towards Turkmenistan by land.
