Sonatrach: Achieving Six 06 Hydrocarbon Discoveries – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

The Sonatrach group announced the achievement of six 06 hydrocarbon discoveries, based on its own efforts, during the first quarter of the year 2023.

According to the statement of the same interests, two oil discoveries were made in the Amqid Masoud basin, following the drilling of two wells, BRM-1 and BMD-1, where a daily flow of 5,699 barrels of oil and 170,461 cubic meters of gas was recorded at the level of the first well. With regard to the second well, a daily flow of 4,856 barrels of oil and 255,912 cubic meters of gas has been recorded.

These results confirm the important oil and gas potentials located in Touggart, located east of the Hassi Messaoud field.

On the other hand, the statement stated that two wells were drilled in the Burkin basin, which were the subject of discoveries of oil, gas and condensates. The first well called HAM-1bis produced a daily flow of 129,048 cubic meters of gas and 239 barrels of condensate from the first reservoir and 1,905 barrels of oil and 137,484 cubic meters of gas from the second reservoir.

The statement confirmed that the second well, called SAISW-1, will produce an estimated daily flow of 3,117 barrels of oil and 219,336 cubic meters of gas.

The same statement revealed that condensate gas was discovered in the Ohant area in the Illizi Basin, during the drilling of the KARS-3 well, where daily flow rates of 336,930 cubic meters of gas and 1,504 barrels of condensate were recorded.

Finally, an oil and gas discovery was made in the Oued Mia basin located in the southeast of the Hassi R’mel field, during the drilling of the LGL-2 well, where a daily flow of 453 barrels of oil and 168,312 cubic meters of gas was recorded.

The statement highlighted that these discoveries highlight the extent of the efforts made by Sonatrach in the field of exploration in order to renew its reserves of hydrocarbons, and also confirm the extent of the attractiveness of the mining sector in Algeria.
