Soleimani leaves Curitiba and returns to Europe
The management of Curitiba Football Club, representing the Paraná province in southern Brazil, officially announced on Wednesday the termination of the contract of Algerian international player Islam Slimani.
A statement published by the club on its official social media pages said: “The club is informed that Islam Slimani is no longer a player in the first team squad, following the prior termination of his contract.”
The Greens’ all-time top scorer joined Curitiba last August, where he signed a contract extending until December 31, 2024.
Media reports previously stated that the player’s contract contained a clause allowing him to leave in the winter transfer market, but did not reveal any details related to the specific goals such as the club falling to the second division.
This is what happened to Coritiba at the end of the Brazilian League last November, after it occupied the penultimate place in the general table of the competition.

Soleimani returns to Belgium
The Belgian journalist specializing in player transfers, Sasha Tavolieri, revealed that Islam Slimani is close to returning to the Belgian league after the previous experience that led him to take on the colors of the ancient club Anderlecht.
The 2019 African champion is expected to arrive in Belgium on Wednesday, in order to pass the medical examination and mark his transfer to the ranks of the Michelin Club, which is active in the first division.
According to the aforementioned source, the two parties reached an agreement requiring the signing of a contract extending until the end of the current season.
This will be the player’s ninth professional experience in European leagues, since he left CS Belouizdad in 2013.
Mechelen occupies eighth place in the Belgian League Championship, after collecting a total of 28 points.
