Shorfa: The law related to the exercise of the trade union right came to ensure the independence and impartiality of trade unions – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The National Assembly’s Health, Social Affairs, Labor and National Solidarity Committee held a meeting this evening, Thursday, at the assembly’s headquarters, chaired by Professor Habib Douaki, the committee’s chairman. The meeting was attended by Abdel Nasser Hammoud, deputy speaker of the National Assembly, in charge of legislative affairs and relations with the government and the National People’s Assembly. I listened to a presentation on the text of a law related to the exercise of the trade union right, presented by the representative of the government, Youssef Sharafah, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, in the presence of Basma Azwar, Minister of Relations with Parliament.

At the outset of his presentation, the representative of the government, Youssef Sharafah, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, indicated that the text of the law came to define the concept of exercising the trade union right by establishing principles represented as a basis for ensuring the independence and impartiality of trade unions away from all political and partisan tensions, and not mixing trade union practice with political practice, to reorganize The trade union scene by accompanying the establishment of strong trade union organizations, stopping trade union roaming and establishing the principle of equality among all trade unions without discrimination.

He added that the text also aims to embody some of the provisions of the constitution that provide for guaranteeing the trade union right and devoting the freedom to exercise it in light of respect for the law, stressing that the text relied on international standards related to freedom of association and protection of the trade union right.

After that, the members of the Health, Social Affairs, Labor and National Solidarity Committee were given the opportunity to raise their questions and express their concerns about the text of the law under study, noting its importance, stressing that it followed the broad lines set by the President of the Republic to initiate deep social reforms, especially in the field of labor relations.

This, the government representative has ensured by answering the questions and concerns of the committee members with more clarification and explanation.

It is worth noting that the Health, Social Affairs, Labor and National Solidarity Committee is preparing its preliminary report on the text of this law to be presented at the plenary session that the Council will hold at a later time to present and discuss the text.
