Mr. Saihi explained that the goal of this approach is not only commercial, but there are economic and political goals and to make the word African countries a single word, noting the importance that this international meeting has for Algeria, especially in light of the keenness that the President of the Republic expresses every time regarding the necessity of changing the classic economic view of exchange. And development among African countries, especially since many of these countries, such as Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, have made great strides in the field of the pharmaceutical industry.”
On the other hand, the Minister stressed the need to correct the traditional view directed at the pharmacist as only a seller of a group of medicines, but rather to work to make him a fundamental actor in the health system, given the major role he plays in the patient’s recovery process, calling for “reopening the debate regarding the code of ethics for the pharmacy profession.” .
The same official stressed that this code has become more than necessary and must be given great importance to place the pharmacist in the scientific position he deserves and “to consider him among the main participants in treatment and not at the end of the chain of treatment.”
The minister also called for the reactivation of the city’s pharmacy, as well as the need to reconsider the criteria for opening it according to what serves the patient, focusing on the importance of research in the field of pharmacy.
Mr. Saihi revealed the establishment of research units in hospitals according to a new concept that will be adopted at the level of hospital institutions, with thinking about opening new specializations in the field of pharmaceutical medicine.
