The Algerian fans turned the page on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, after the bitter exclusion of the national team and its departure from the competition in the group stage with a result of two draws and a defeat.
His only concern at the present time is knowing the successor to coach Djamel Belmadi, who left the club after agreeing with FAF President Walid Sadi to terminate his contract.
National media reports circulated several names to take over the job, most notably the coach of the French women’s national team, Hervé Renard, who is very popular on the African continent.
This is primarily due to his success in leading the Zambian and Ivory Coast national teams to win the African Cup of Nations in 2012 and 2015.
The French press confirms Renard’s departure
The French Radio Monte Carlo Sports Network revealed that the current coach of the French women’s national team has made the decision to leave his position following the end of the Summer Olympics, which Paris will host next July.
The 54-year-old is linked to the French Football Federation, with a contract extending until next August.
Renard’s move will pave the way for football federations wishing to include him, led by the Algerian Football Association and its counterpart from Ivory Coast.
The latter broke his connection with French coach Jean-Louis Gassi, following the humiliating defeat against Equatorial Guinea (4-0) in the final round of the group stage of the African Cup of Nations held in the same country.
Hervé Renard aims to supervise a men’s national team again, in order to participate in the next edition of the World Cup scheduled to be held in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada in two years, according to what Radio Monte Carlo Sports reported.
The former Al-Ittihad coach left his mark during the last edition of the World Cup, which was held for the first time in an Arab country, Qatar, in 2022, after he led the Saudi national team to defeat its Argentine counterpart in the opening group stage matches.
L’#Algeria It is very important for Hervé Renard to succeed in Djamel Belmadi. Please note that African banks have pre-satisfied vacations starting in Ghana (or Renard after joining Roy) and around the Côte d’Ivoire, next to CAN 2015. pic.twitter.com/3iMkVwPJga
