Today, Saturday, the Audiovisual Control Authority announced in a statement that it had received public television clarifications regarding a scene that appeared in the first episodes of the “Al-Dama” series, which showed a wall in a market in the capital with the name of a separatist movement classified as terrorist written on it.
And the same source stated, “Following the statement that the authority sent to the public television institution on March 30, 2023, related to a request for clarifications about the Al-Dama series in its first episodes, the television institution attributed in its response to that, that the reason for the appearance of these writings during the broadcast of the series is due to the lack of focus Whether during filming, installation, or when re-watching episodes.
The clarifications included – according to the statement – that “strict measures were taken against those responsible,” and the public television justified in its response that “there is confusion in the correct reading of these letters, which do not reflect, according to the residents of the neighborhood, the symbols of the separatist movement.”
In the same context, the Audiovisual Control Authority emphasized “the necessity of respecting all stages of television production, and the necessity of the Tribal Monitoring Committee to avoid falling into ambiguity and circumstances that may carry interpretations and give semiological readings of dangerous dimensions.”
The statement added, “The audiovisual control authority alerts public television and reminds it of its legal responsibility towards the work it presents to the viewer and to avoid unjustified professional mistakes.”
The authority also affirmed that it “performs its duties independently and has previously called on several occasions for all public and private channels to respect professional ethics and adhere to public order, and it also encourages opening discussions with specialists and professionals to improve audiovisual work.”
