President Tebboune: There is no concession or bargaining in the memory file – New Algeria
Confirm President of the Republic Abdel Majeed Tebboune said that the memory file does not erode with age or forgetfulness due to the passage of years, and does not accept concessions or compromises, stressing that “it will remain at the core of our concerns until it is addressed in an objective, bold and fair treatment of the historical truth.”
President Tebboune said, in his message on the occasion National Day of Memorycommemorating the 79th anniversary of the massacres of May 8, 1945, today, Tuesday, “While I affirm readiness to move toward the future in an atmosphere of trust, I consider that credibility and seriousness are a basic requirement for completing the procedures and endeavors related to this memory file, which is an accurate and sensitive file, and what it represents to me.” The Algerian people are proud of their long national struggle, and their bitter armed struggle…loyal to the martyrs and the eternal message of November.”
The President of the Republic affirmed – according to the message – that the state’s interest in the issue of memory is based on an appreciation of the national responsibility in preserving the legacy of generations of the glories of their ancestors, and stems from the nation’s pride in its honorable past, and from the magnitude of the people’s sacrifices in Algeria’s ancient and modern history to defeat ambitions and nullify the plots of haters who have never ceased. They inherit intentions to undermine its unity and strength, noting that “their lineages are still to this day tainted in the mud of targeting our country.”
