Within the framework of his careful and continuous follow-up to the dangerous developments taking place in the Republic of the Sudan, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the current President of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, sent letters to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, and the current President of the African Union, the President of the Republic Al-Qamar United, Mr. Othman Ghazali, and the Executive Secretary of the Government Authority for Development “IGAD”, Dr. Wartah Gebeho.
The initiative of the President of the Republic comes in light of the accelerating deterioration of the situation in Sudan against the backdrop of the continued armed confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which left heavy losses in lives and property, which calls for international action to stop bloodshed and return to the peaceful path to resolve the deep Sudanese crisis.
In his three messages, the President of the Republic stressed that the dangerous and unfortunate developments taking place in the sisterly Republic of Sudan, with its internal complications and external repercussions, have become a common challenge that requires the concerted efforts of all regional and international actors, calling for joint action and urgently to avoid further escalation and stop the fighting between the Sudanese brothers and force them to Giving priority to wisdom and resorting to the virtues of dialogue to resolve their differences and spare the Sudanese people the dangers of slipping into a spiral of bloody violence, which poses a threat to social peace and the path of a political settlement in Sudan.
After appreciating the individual endeavors initiated by these organizations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed that there is still room to value their efforts and maximize the desired gains through collective efforts to call on the brothers in Sudan, with one and unified voice, to an immediate cessation of all armed clashes, and to the necessity of giving priority to interest. He stressed, at the same time, Algeria’s readiness to intensify its efforts in cooperation and coordination with regional and international partners in order to contribute effectively to the efforts and collective endeavors aimed at stopping the fighting between the Sudanese brothers and urging them to quickly return to the peaceful path to resolve the Sudanese crisis in a final and sustainable way.
