President Tebboune announces increases in pensions and grants for retirees ranging between 10 and 15 percent – Algerian Dialogue

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced today, Wednesday in Algiers, increases in pensions and grants for retirees ranging between 10 and 15 percent, which will be approved during the next Council of Ministers meeting.
The President of the Republic said, while supervising the ceremony to celebrate International Labor Day at the headquarters of the Central Union of Trade Unions in the People’s House, that the next meeting of the Council of Ministers will approve increases in pensions and grants for retirees ranging between 10 and 15 percent.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic also renewed his adherence to the social character of the state stemming from the principles of the Statement of November 1, 1954.
The President of the Republic had agreed, during his presidency of the last meeting of the Council of Ministers, to re-evaluate the pensions and retirement grants for the year 2024 for retirees of the retirement system, whether employees or non-employees in all categories.
In view of “the development of the standard of living, taking into account the financial capabilities of the state,” stressing the necessity of “preserving social protection for this group that has provided so much to the nation.”
On the same occasion, he directed the government to “re-examine this file carefully in the Government Council and initiate in-depth studies to determine the level of increases that will be approved in a phased manner in the next Council of Ministers.” He also directed to search for “additional new financing methods for the National Retirement Fund so that these increases are in line with the development of National economy”.
