Outcomes of the Council of Ministers: Algeria saved $1.2 billion for the benefit of the state treasury following the achieved production of durum wheat – Algerian Dialogue

Today, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which discussed a draft law related to the protection of people with special needs, and presentations including, a project to connect the electricity networks of the north and south of the country, and the harvest and threshing campaign for the season. 2024 Measures taken to modernize electronic and mobile payment systems, and a project to implement a university hospital center in the state of Tizi Ouzou.

After presenting the government’s activities by the Prime Minister for the last two weeks and then listening to the interventions of ladies and gentlemen ministers on the draft law and various presentations, the President gave the following orders and directives:

1- Regarding the harvest and threshing campaign for the 2024 season:

After presenting a situation to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, from which it was concluded that Algeria would provide $1.2 billion to the state treasury, following the abundant production of durum wheat achieved this season, which placed Algeria close to complete self-sufficiency, Mr. President ordered setting a strategic goal to reach expansion The cultivated areas in our great south have reached 500 thousand hectares, especially with the sister State of Qatar investing 117 thousand hectares, and Italy investing 36 thousand hectares, in addition to national investments of 120 thousand hectares.

Mr. President stressed that complete self-sufficiency has become within reach with our production of 80 percent of hard wheat, considering that this is a tradition of Algerian production and consumption, and that it is a product of small quantities on the global market compared to soft wheat.

– Mr. President ordered the production of corn kernels, and prohibited the harvesting of this crop as a green plant, in the stage of incomplete maturity.

The President of the Republic directed the Minister of Agriculture to involve farmers in awareness-raising and sensitization, to improve the yield of a hectare, which in the south must not be less than 55 quintals per hectare, because these areas have enormous potential, especially water and electricity.

2- Regarding the completion of a university hospital center in Tizi Ouzou:

The Council of Ministers agreed to conclude a deal by mutual consent between the Cosidar Complex and the Ministry of Housing, represented by the Equipment Directorate of the Tizi Ouzou Province, to begin the works after completing all studies, to implement this project for the benefit of the residents of the Tizi Ouzou Province, with a capacity of 500 beds.

3- Regarding the project to connect electricity networks between the north and south of the country:

The President of the Republic ordered the in-depth study of this project, taking into account the following:

Achievement should be phased and according to priorities.

– Studying the possibility of strengthening the electrical network in Bechar, Adrar, Ouargla and Ain Salah, pending its connection to the north, due to the increasing needs of our southern regions for electricity, especially in the summer, in addition to the expansion of economic activities in our greater south.

The President of the Republic directed the Minister of Energy to adopt the technique of laying power lines underground, instead of poles, especially in cities, to enhance safety from natural influences and avoid losses.

The President of the Republic ordered that this project include a plan for supplying railway lines with electricity, which is planned to be implemented through various projects in our great south, as well as agricultural investments.

A draft law related to the protection and promotion of persons with special needs was also approved, followed by the presentation of the progress report on the progress of the digitization process, in addition to the content of a joint presentation on the measures taken to modernize electronic and mobile payment systems.

The President of the Republic ordered the removal of administrative obstacles that prevent the employment of young people in the structures and facilities affiliated with the youth and sports sectors in the southern states, according to the available capabilities and funds.

Mr. President directed the government to initiate national connections to dams, especially the largest ones, according to a time-bound plan.

Mr. President renewed his directives to members of the government to strictly follow up on citizens’ concerns with constant communication.

The President of the Republic ordered officials to inform and inform citizens in advance via local radio, whenever necessary, in everything related to maintenance or settling any technical fluctuation to provide the population with different energies.
