During which he was able to reach the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Nations Cup, an achievement that the same team had missed in continental competitions for 67 years.
Switzerland eliminated the world champion, France, after resorting to penalty kicks.
The Sarajevo native’s coaching career focused on clubs, as he coached several Swiss teams such as Young Boys, the fourth most decorated club in the local league (16 titles).
The coach succeeded in giving the Italian club Lazio the Italian Cup title 11 years ago, which was his only coronation in his coaching career, which he began with the Swiss club Bellinzona in 1997.
