Mueller: International interest in the Algerian ecosystem for startups – Algerian Dialogue

The Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Gerd Müller, highlighted today, Sunday, his satisfaction with the great level that Algeria has reached in supporting innovation and emerging enterprises, expressing his admiration for the growing ecosystem, in conjunction with Müller’s acquaintance with living and inspiring models of entrepreneurship in Algeria, in A step that reflects the growing international interest in Algeria’s experience in terms of supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.

This came during Mueller’s visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises, and his attendance at a meeting at the Foundation for the Promotion and Management of Start-up Support Structures (the public accelerator of Algeria Vantur), which included a comprehensive presentation of the ecosystem of start-ups in Algeria and pioneering presentations of the experiences, achievements and plans of distinguished Algerian start-up institutions that demonstrated Its great potential and ability to innovate.

In his speech on this occasion, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, Yassine Walid, focused on “the vital role of startups in promoting economic growth and driving innovation in Algeria.”

The Minister pointed out “the importance of creating a supportive environment and a solid legal framework to enable project owners to achieve their successes,” noting that “Algeria is reaping today the results of the strong political will of the President of the Republic for more than four years, which placed the knowledge economy at the heart of public policy concerns and efforts.” The country at the continental level for the sake of economic integration, which was embodied in the field of emerging enterprises through the organization of the African Conference for Emerging Enterprises in the 2022 and 2023 editions.”

For his part, Noureddine Waheed, Director of Startups and Support Structures at the Ministry, gave a comprehensive presentation on the startup ecosystem in Algeria. Waheed relied on key statistics and inspiring success stories. He also explained the legal environment that supports the growth and prosperity of startups.

In turn, Sayed Ali Zerrougui, General Director of the public accelerator “Algeria Venture,” touched on the role of the accelerator, the programs directed at emerging companies that it worked on, and the Algerian participation in major international exhibitions for technology and emerging companies.
